Privacy Policy

Introduction

Clipwise ("the App") is developed by Andrew Mok. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the App. Your privacy is important to us, and we have designed Clipwise to respect it fully.

No Developer-Operated Data Collection

Clipwise does not send personal data, app usage, or diagnostics to Andrew Mok or to any server operated on Clipwise's behalf. Clipwise has no account system, hosted relay, or developer-operated backend. If you choose a cloud LLM provider, the App communicates directly with that provider as described below.

Data Stored on Your Mac

Provider configurations, custom actions, and app settings are stored locally on your Mac. API keys and custom HTTP header values are stored at rest in macOS Keychain. Existing plaintext credentials from earlier Clipwise versions are migrated to Keychain automatically.

This local-storage promise does not apply to text processed with a cloud provider. When you select one, Clipwise sends the text and action instruction directly to that provider as described under Third-Party Services.

Transformation history is disabled by default. If you enable it, history is stored in a local file on your Mac. You can delete individual entries, clear non-starred entries, or permanently delete all history from within the App.

No Analytics or Tracking

Clipwise does not include any analytics frameworks, crash reporting tools, advertising SDKs, or tracking mechanisms. We do not collect usage statistics, device information, or any form of telemetry.

Third-Party Services

When you run an action with a cloud LLM provider such as OpenAI, Anthropic, OpenRouter, or another OpenAI-compatible service, Clipwise sends the action instruction, selected clipboard text, and the authentication information required for the request directly from your Mac to that provider. A provider connection test also sends a small test request. Clipwise does not proxy these requests through a server operated by us. The provider's terms and privacy policy govern how it processes and retains the request data.

Apple Intelligence processing occurs on-device. In direct-download builds, CLI providers run the command you configure locally; that command may access external services depending on the tool and your configuration, and its own terms and privacy policy apply.

Children's Privacy

Clipwise does not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13. Any information sent to a provider selected by the user is governed by that provider's terms and privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated revision date.
